Hey from newzealand.
hI Im Shane, Been a toyota fan all my life never owened anything but. Have just become the proud owner of a 1983 celica xx with a pretty much stock MTEU apart from upgraded leads and plugs and i believe later model exhaust manifold (will find out next time i see my father!). also changed from auto trans to a W57 5 speed man which is giving me sum issues with the speedo being out by a fair bit (i hate the digital dash any ways but have been told i cant get analogue ones that will fit)
A brief (and by no means complete!!!) history of the car
my father built the car pretty much from the ground up and finished it except for paint he then sold it to a guy who gave it a quick and not very thorough by the looks of it paint job. then my brother got the chance to buy it back with the intention of fixing her back to the condition it was when my father had it! he too never got round to finishing it so i swapped him my little 89 corona (imo he pulled the short strawon that one haha) and now here we are.
it has shortend shocks and springs (all legal!) about as low as i would like to go
i will post pics up later on as im at work at the mo!
my plans include
first and foremost rust kill and a proper paint job asap! im thinking red or maybe dark purple. i plan on doing all prep work and stuff myself to keep the cost down (anyone on here from ak nz know of good diy painters feel free to get intouch!)
then new wheels
a bit further down the track im thinkin a 1g-gte conversion
from then on who knows im sure ill find some inspiration on here!
awesome website here so much info on what i reckon is probably the best car of all timeLast edited by MK11_NZ; 07-04-2012 at 08:13 PM.

7MGTE conversion would probably be easier since you have the M crossmember, mounts, and bellhousing already.

i agree but i also have tonnes of parts for for 1gg conversion! as i am new to owning my ma63 ive been reading as muuch as possible about it and from reading a few posts on here it seems that mteu engines are quite rare(?) i am happy with power output at the moment so may not change a thing in the future. maybe just bigger exhaust and intake thanks for the info tho...

after searching for info on the net and talking to various people who know more about this car than i. Im thinking ill leave the mteu as it is! especially since the engine is fresh under 5000 km approx since being rebuilt. maybe put a lsd in it (if i can find one here in nz)
