I am a new Supra owner.
I have always wanted a Toyota supra. Way before I can drive I remember seeing a mint supra at the sales yard and I had to get my parents to pull over to let me see it. They did, but I was the only looker. That is fitting to me because the supra only seats two. from then on I had dreams of getting in one and leaving the world behind. (I should tell you the supra was a black mk4) I wasn't very old then, grade school at best, but I still remember that car today, even though I forgot about that for many years. I have been driving Honda's for most of my life. an 80 accord to start, 4 Crx's 85,91,90,91. A prelude, legend, 2002 accord mostly honda, which I still admire. It wasnt until I bought a 1985 toyota pickup garbage hauler, that I realized once again the nature of Toyota. So, I bought a supra with a rebuilt 6mge for $1200.00, That turned out to be a nightmare. It wasn't built right and so a rod seized on the highway of Spokane Washington and I had to limp off the on ramp while I heard the defining sound of a rod. Well, I knew I just screwed up. I bought a junk car for cash money, and the reason I bought it, a rebuilt engine, had just incinerated before my eyes.
Well it would have been better just to junk the car, but when my brother came back from his employment with the Marine corps I figured why not let him have a go. So $2000.00 later I have rebuilt the old rally car that gave up on me on I-90 and now after a transmission rebuild, and an engine rebuild, my me personally (B.A.S. in automotive tech) I am anxious to see how this comes out. Has brand new Gabriel Ulta shock absorbers (because my brother's name is Gabriel) and load of other parts that are new (alternator, starter, and such)
Now, you do understand I would never have built this car for myself. But I am glad I wasted the money I did and the way I did. I have a lot of money in a crap car, but it helped me remember other issues about my real first car was a 1981 Celica, in which my father got ripped off on. Then my having a Camaro, which I hated. These were traumatic. Especially owning a camaro, what a pos; LOL
No, Working on my this car has helped in many ways. It helped me remember my father, who is brain dead due to a medical incident. I am going to buy another for myself sometime in the future. Right now I just want to fix this one for my brother. So he has a chance to see a car as more than just a car.
Pictures of this car are in the album section of my profile. It's not good, but sometimes that is ok. This will be my little brother's first car. It's now running and It's a pretty good driver. So far, it seems I did a fair job on the rebuild, but I had to trade in the 6mge for a 5mge. (I have big bore (85mm) pistons for it if my brother is deserving) Well, this is my hello.

Hello,
An 85 supra was my first car and I must say that it is a good starter car. It kind of forces you to get your hands dirty if you know what I mean. What are you daily driving? the 02 accord.

Actually no, I got rear ended last summer. I bought a 2.0 VW Jetta in its place, because is was cheap with low miles ($4200/82k miles) I am not liking the Jetta very much. It's much slower and the suspension is kind of rigid in a way. I don't know its just not a good different. It's a dependable daily driver with good A/C. I shouldn't complain, but I didn't mention it because I didn't feel it was worth mentioning. (it has 85hp)

If things go right in the next few years, I plan on doing a build thread where I make a 240hp 5mge, with my 85mm big bore pistons. Port and polish and cam; all that. This supra is my little brothers first car. One that I built for him; As ornery as he can be.
After getting this one I realized I would like to have a better one and keep it. (Collect one) so I will eventually scout out; a nice one.
