Hey guys, Just joined here but ive been around the Celica forums for a few years
So here i am, Nice to meet you all. Most people call me Doc but Seifer or any combo of those is fine.
I picked up a 1984 MK2 supra a couple of months ago and havent had the time to do much to it yet. But hopefully will get a chance to have some fun with it in the very near future.
For its age it is an amazing car. 185,000 on the clock. But im told by the previous owner and the little sticker on the engine that it has come back from a full rebuild 8,000kms ago. The engine still has plenty of kick so i tend to trust the rebuild story.
When i picked it up the digital speedo did not work, The car pulled badly to the left under power or breaking and it smelled like a wet arse. some nasty thumping under the passenger side front wheel too. But after throwing some cash at pedders she seems to be a million times better. And 2 days with some carpet shampoo and air fresheners have take car of the smell. Though i have a friend who has offered custom carpet and soundproofing because he "Knows what im like, And knows the car will end up way too loud".
Anyway i've bored you all enough. Here are some pics of her. Its only running the 5-ME with an auto under it. But this will be changed soon!

Welcome to CS.com! Glad you got your ride roadworthy.
Noticed some interesting differences between the AUS and NA models (besides the obvious)...for instance, badged SUPRA like the early 82's (other year NA's had Celica Supra emblems), the remote mirror controller on the dash where the L-type trip computer went, and the storage cubby under the glovebox. I'm sure there are more, but that's what I could see. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Bob and 82. Yeah ive noticed a few differences in the Aus models and my friends Jap model. Stupidly the MK2 only came in automatic over here and only with the 5-ME engine but i have plans for a 7M at some stage. You can see in one of the photos my little 165 GT4 sticking its nose out of the garage. It is where most of my cash has gone, But since its last engine got cooked ive pushed it back into the darkness to spend some time on the MK2. So mainly looking for some advice on how to go about an engine change on it. But also happy to answer any questions anyone has about the car or if anyone wants some photos of certain parts of it etc. And i can provide the safety check and parts list if anyone is interested

So ive managed to find that it is a Mk2 xx after taking it to my mechanic who said its been through a rebuild before. Its not the original motor or gear box and the diff is off a later model and has been customized quite a bit.

In the mechanics words "it looks like some one screwed up the motor and dash board in this and put it together using a spare car, They have done a very good job of it though. No body or chassis problems and it runs like a dream. Better than most cars half her age"
