    w58 out of an 84celica???

Hey there, have a kind of simple question for all who are familiar with the w58 transmission, I was just wondering if they all have the exact same clips/wires,
I'm running a 92 7MGE out of a cressida in my 82 L-type and swapping its automatic for a 5 speed that I found in the area thats from an 84 Celica, I have the bellhousing for the 7m but just need to know if the wires will hook up the the 7m's harness!!!
If anyone could answer this for me that would be great! :P

I am not an expert but I think that any w58 is the same, the bell housing for the 22r or 22re (in the Celica) is different the shift fork is on the opposite side. I also think there is only one wire on the Manual ..the reverse light. However, If you are using your same ECU (after the Transmission is Switched) then you must make it think the Automatic is still there and in Park or Neutral or it will not send the signal to start. So I guess you use a jumper on those wires to do that

I have a W58 from an 85 Celica GT that I am going to put in some day so I hope my information is correct about all W58s are the same.

Only difference between W58's is the shifter locations changed throughout the years, and bellhousings/gearing was different, IIRC. Change the R bellhousing on the Celica transmission to your M bellhousing, and you're set to go.

You will be fine, Im running a Celica W58 in my Supra. All I did was swap the bellhousing. I also used the fork cause I didnt want to pay for a M series one at the time. There was only a very slight length difference. But when I put the trans in, the slave cylinder piston was at a weird angle. Two spacers on the slave cylinder bolts corrected this, and Ive put over 14,000 miles on the setup since swapping it last year.
