Repaint Windschild/Hatch Sidemoulding´s
Good morning Gent´s
The Paintshop at my MK2 is finisht.
But my "Painter" will not put Hand on the Moulding´s arround the Frond/rear Window.
He said the Color will no adhere on the plastic.
The Moulding are in not good condition(25 Years Old)...They have Cracks etc.
So I will Ask you:
Have one of your Guy´s Paint this Mouldings or have you buy new ones(much Expensive)???
Have you any Pic´s from the Job??

He's right, the paint will peel and look like crap, especially if it is already weathered and cracked. You might try finding some in the parts for sale section (eg. http://www.celicasupra.com/forums/sh...r-door-molding) You might try a vinyl tape to cover it in the meantime, it'll look better, but will loosen up and likely only last a season. Nice to see you got your car back on the road

I've heard of people stripping the plastic off, using self-etching primer and painting them. One person even had a whole set powdercoated black! Some of the pieces have become sold out, so new isn't an option anymore (on the sold out pieces).

^ that's true, I had mixed results by stripping the plastic and coating the pieces with spray-on truck bed liner. It would probably have adhered better had I used a self-etching primer, since it peeled after a couple years.
The front cowling should be simple to spray with automotive matte black.
