    Oil Pan 85 celica gt

Hey, so anyone here with an 85 Celica gt with the stock engine 22r in place take a Picture of their oil pan?

Would be a big help, thank you in advance.

i was just wondering the placement of the oil pan to see if it could be removed easy without having to take the engine out.

the pan is a one piece steel design. the front sump is tucked tightly to the cross-member. Sooo, short of pulling the engine up, or dropping cross-member alltogether, the oil pan is not readily taken off. Crawl up underneath the car to visualize this. It is a just a little four cylinder: pull the engine, have the crank turned at a machine shop, do it right, don't look back

You either have to jack the engine up so high it is almost out of the car, or remove the crossmember to get the oil pan off with the 22re still in the car. It is much easier just to remove the engine.

Why does he need to have the crank turned to replace an oil pan gasket?

Would not do it with the oil pan still on the engine, and even after pulling it, do a good wash of it, oil is flammable and welding creates sparks and heat.

If you are going to use something to patch the pan go for jb weld at least.

I believe I have a full gasket set for the 22r if your needing it. The company I ordered from sent me the wrong one so I don't need it.
