I xant check the fuses cause I dont have an ammeter, I halve a multimeter though. So I was just fiddling around and I unpluged the round plug from the alternator, car kept running (battery power obviously), but the weird thing was is I checked the plug, not the one on the alt but the one running to the fuse panel, if that's were it runs to, and I was getting 12 and some odd volts from it. And I know that's the plug to power all the electronics and such, as if power coming from the alt and from that wiring mentioned and its meeting somewhere and screws something up. Maybe my engine fuse panel is bad because I already don't get power to my efi relay, so I have a hotwire and fuse running to a toggle switch and back out where the power goes from the fuse panel to the fuel pump. Sorry for long posts, I'm very detailed.

I need more than luck, I think my fuse panel just fried. I was an idiot and didn't unhook my battery before taking wires off the alt and the hot wire to the bat touched the casing of the alt which is grounded. Needless to say, sparks flew from the contact, and smoke rose from somewhere around the positive terminal and now I have no power to anything. My battery is at 12.73 volts, so its after the battery obviously. Anybody know of a fusible link other than the ones in the fuse panel under the hood?

There are some coming out of the box on the positive post of the battery. Also try undoing the battery connections and wiggling them, then reconnect.

If I had to buy another engine bay wiring harness, is there anybody in pensacola or sant rosa county florida that has one or if not, how would I go about paying someone for theirs if they live across the country etc? I'm alomst certain something is shorted causing fried vr's. And I feel like it'll be easier to buy another harness or a partial harness for what I need. Electrical diagnosis is not my stronghold and its going to be hard cause smoke came from my fuse panel yesterday and its most definitely fried. I can get a spare from a celica gt Monday but testing wires will be a pain til I get power back to everything and I won't know til I get the fuse box. Does anybody know if a celica gt harness will work? Just the alt wires, and maybe the whole harness for the fuse box.

just start probing for voltate starting on the batery post. then to the terminal and so on. the starting/charging system is really not that complicated. def read the tsrm i think they will really help. there is also the wiring diagram available. give the harness a good visual inspection. look for pinched wires, corrosion, anything disconnected, missing any sheating, or dry rottedness.
are you by any chance over tightening the alt belt? gotta be tight but you shouldnt be able to play it like a guitar eitherwww.sparrowmotive.net

I highly doubt you have a wiring issue. I worry more about alternators that don't die in a few months. Get a Nippon Denso alternator first.
