    It's been sat on or had a lot of weight applied in the past. Thats the exact same way mine is and it was just that the previous owner sat his young kid on it.

    When you remove the inside cover(maybe just the plastic switch cover?) I think you can get a good look at the motor / drive mechanism. In think it's possible to put a large Phillips screwdriver into an the main drive spool (if there is a name for it, as it's a 10mm bolt maybe) to adjust the travel and closing. I'm too lazy to search for the thread. Kinda obscure. I had to do it as a final step afternreplacing antrack. It is probably plain as day in the trsm. Been a few years, and I no longer Recall...

    mine is the same way, just one of those things i haven't gotten around to fixing yet. it also leaks so i need to tear it down anyway.

    Before you do anything else, remove all the rust and dirt packed into the very front of the track and clean the track real well. You shouldn't need to add shims or mess with the adjustments except during an install, and doing so now just addresses the syptoms and not the problem. The back of the sunroof lifts a lot as the sunroof travels the last 1/8" of track that is probably full of rust and debris right now.
