    1JZ -> SA63 celica wiring help needed!

    Hey all

    I have a 1984 SA63 celica that Im converting to 1JZ.

The motor is from a manual JZX90 front cut I bought.

My question is to do with wiring, as the Celica is carby and has no EFI stuff, how do I go about wiring this up?
(I know I need an ECU and fuel pump relay for starters)

I've been reading for days, but nothing helps because I don't have an EFI system already there to splice into...

I have the engine wiring harness and ECU connected, but the problem is, 2 out of 4 of the connectors on the ECU are part of the body harness.

My ECU is the bottom plug.

The two plugs that are part of the body harness are the two right connectors in the pic above:

PLUG 1 (far right, 28 pin plug) ignoring the test pins and diagnostics
(EGW) Exhaust gas warning light - output for dash?
    (P) Pattern select switch - what is this and do i need it?
(CCo) Exhaust sensor - is this an input or output?
(SP1) Speed sensor - again, dash output?
(IGSW) Ignition switch - from key barrel
(ELS) external load input - what is this?
    (STP) stop lamp switch
(A/C) A/C idle up - not keeping A/C for the moment...
    (BATT) constant 12v from battery
(+B) Switched power via main relay - power output of main relay

Then there are two more pins that I cant find info on what they are:
    SNWI
    SNWO

    PLUG 2

(FPC) Fuel Pump relay control - use this to power my external relay.
    (W) Warning light - Does the ECU need this connected to the dash to run?
    (M-REL) Main Relay
(NEO, VTO 1, VTO 2), TR) Traction control
(D1) Fuel pump control relay (why does the ecu have two fuel pump control pins?)
    (ABS) - not using ABS

So far I know I need:
M-REL - main relay, but what is it's function?
IGSW - output of key barrel
+B - power output of main relay
    BATT constant 12v from battery
FPC - fuel pump relay switch

What else do I need to wire up to get the engine running happily?
Do I need test/diagnostics pins wired up?
(I know it'll throw codes for ABS and no TRC, does this affect the engine running fine?)

Sorry for a million questions I've never played around with 1Js before...

M-rel is the connected to the positive side of the Main relays activation coil. It is for the ECU to control the main relay, the ECU keeps the main relay on for a few seconds after the key is turned off, this is for the idle stepper motor to reset.

The rest looks correct. With these 5 wires hooked up, you will be able to start the engine.

I would wire the Check Engine Light to an LED or bulb on the dash so you know if something is wrong, and you can read error codes.

Having no ABS will not affect the ECU, it does no have anything to do with controlling the ABS. The ABS has its own computer. Also not running the traction control should have not be a problem.
    Supra-less.

    Empty Spot in the garage.

    Sweet! thanks mate!

Nice to know I'm on the right track...
