Hey guys some of you may know im doing a 7mgte swap into my 82 and i am so confused about which way the pistons and rods should face? How do i know which way is the front? Im sure some may say the same way i took them out but i was so busy putting them in order from 1 to 6 that i forgot which way to lay them.. i have 2 diferent numbers on my rods also, the 1st 3 have a #1 stamped on them and the last 3 have a #2 stamped on them.. wtf?

The piston should have an arrow on the front, and that points towards the front of the engine. The numbers are for rod bearing sizes.

    What he said. here: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar...aspx?S=EM&P=90

Pistons and rods both have a "front" mark that faces towards the front of the motor.

Numbers are for the factory bearing sizes, unless you are extremely OCD and plan to re-assemble the exact way Toyota does it with matching bearings per rod I wouldn't worry about the numbers.

For the correct rod orientation see the 3rd pic here.

There's a little protrusion on one side that faces forward. Proper rod orientation is important for the oil jet to do it's thing.
