Interesting thought, Supra a Lexus model?
So sitting at the gas station today (part time job) bored out of my gourd, I stumbled upon this thought. If the Toyota executives had decided to start the Lexus line in the late 70's / early 80's instead of the late 80's, would the L-type or P-type have been released as a Lexus model? I would think that the design concept of the L-type would have been engineered to be a Lexus model, but they possibly could have set the performance car as the higher end model too. Or would the Supra overall have become a Lexus model, much like the MKIV probably should have been (not my feelings, but economics). Imagine how different all of this would be had the Supra line started as a Lexus model, or would it have not made it at all?
Chime in with your feelings or thoughts of my crazy ramblings.Supra-less.
Empty Spot in the garage.

Ya but the TOYOTA Supra spawned all the great lexus models. Of course the 2J was in some lexus models. And yes I have been there, working at a gas bar can really drag unless your busy.
Think without the Supra, would we have the LFA? lol1982 Terra Cotta P-Type

Sure. Why not. Same kind of look and styling? Except for the $330K price tag.

IMO, The MkII Supra would have been marketed as a Lexus. It was marketed as a luxury grand touring car and all the latest comfort technology of the day were standard, as well as some cutting-edge tech, like the Automatic AC. By the time of the MKIV, the Supra had morphed into more of a sports car than a luxury car. So a Lexus version of the Supra was created (SC300) to market to the sports luxury buying segment who had been part of the target market for the MKII Supra.
