Newbie introduction and '85 GT introduction
Well, I suppose it's about time I introduce myself. My name is Corey, I'm from a small town in Kentucky called Leitchfield. I bought my first Celica a couple of days ago, hopefully after I introduce it, you won't all scold me because it's not a Supra
I found celicasupra.com after talking to a couple of friends on another forum (502streetscene) that said you all could point me in the right direction. This is my first Celica and I intend to keep it for a long time to come. So here are the details..
Year: 1985
Make: Toyota
Model: Celica
Engine: 2.4L 22R
Trans: 4-speed automatic
Body: Lift-back
Trim: GT
Mileage: 95,544
Owners: 2
Price: $1,600
So I'll start by saying the car is an original Florida car (for 25 years of it's life), and the last 3 years were spent in Indiana. Always garage kept and adult driven. The car is all original except for a set of Motegi wheels/Doral tires and an upgraded Kenwood CD player with all JL Audio speakers. All service records, original owners man, original registration, bill of purchase, build sheet, and MSRP sheet all in the glove box. The car is fully loaded with power windows/door locks, cruise control, AC, power sunroof and plenty of other options. When I say mint, I mean it! The only thing the car needs is the head gasket replaced which shouldn't be too costly. Without further adieu, here she is! I'll have many more pictures soon to come.
I would really appreciate it if some of you guys could send me in the right direction with this one. This is the first one I've owned and I'm sort of lost. I have been searching the forum for a few days now and found a lot of useful information but I really need a few senior members to answer some questions. I only intend to do a couple of things to this car because it is so clean, I don't want to ruin a good thing.
Question 1: I will be staying on stock suspension for a while so in the mean time I'd like to focus on a good wheel/tire combo. I would like to go with Rota RB's (17x9's in the rear on a 225/45 series tire and 17x8's in the front on similar profile but I don't know much about offsets and what I can and can't squeeze in there. Anyone care to help with that?

That's my problem, I'm not familiar with offsets much at all. Would like to go with a 17x9 +12 in the rear with 225/45 series tire and a 17x8 +15 or +20 in the front with 215/45 tire. Can anyone verify if this will work on stock suspension and if it'll look good or look funky?
I hate to be "that guy" that asks a ton of newbie questions, but I have done my research and still can't find exactly what I need.
