85 celica hatch to 84 celica supra?
i was at a local salvage yard looking for a rear hatch for my 84 celica supra. with no luck i found a 85 celica gts. the hatch on the celica was perfect with no rust and all panels. Are the hatch on both cars the same? i know the doors are compatible but i wanna make sure the hatch is aswell. Another question is, how do you know the difference between the L and P type celica? thank you for all the help

82-85 Celica hatches will fit on an 82-85 Supra with no issues.
L-Type Supra, no fender flares, different front seats, P-Type fender flares, better seats.Joe B.

There is no such thing as an l or p type celica, they only came in st, gt, and gt-s trim levels in the states. St and gt ate very close to each other whereas the gt-s had fender flares, irs and seats like the p type supra.

I can tell you the difference between the L and P type Supras but better yet, there's a whole write up thread on this forum telling you the difference. It's real easy to find, too. Or are you asking about the different types of Celicas? I don't know for sure what you're asking.

Oops I guess I should've read the rest of the thread before posting a reply to the first post. I didn't know what you meant but can kinda figure it out from what you think we know what you really mean. Anyway, there really is a thread that goes into all the details regarding all the differences between the l and p types. I'd link it for you but I think you know where it is.

The rear end/diff in that 85 Celica GTS is the same as the Supra, rear control arms and all. If you have the means and the parts are clean, pick them up for spares or to sell to other members. Rear control arms in the Northern states/Canada rust out and twist, and nobody makes aftermarket so you could consider it a future investment.
