new to Celica-Supra
I am currently in the market to buy a Celica Supra. I had one in my family but it was sold while I was in the military. I'm trying to track one down somewhere in the US.

Ummm, a little more in depth would help. The Celica Supra ran 2 generations, with multiple refreshes, plus packages... If you remember big bender flares, then it would have been a MKII P-Type which ran from 82-86.

There is what appears to be a nice CA car item #170905471918 on eBay. I don't know how you determine if the price is fair.

hahaha There seems to be a chrome V6 emblem on the front driver's side fender.
This is the link to it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyot...-/170905471918
It looks decent, except for the front bumper painted red. It has no interior pics, but you can see the seats have seat covers. This could mean the seats are ripped up, or the owner could have used those to protect the seats from getting messed up. Also, the problem with buying a car from ebay is you can't check the car for rust. It's kind of far from New Jersey too. haha You should be able to find one much closer to your area. Try searching on Autotempest.com.
Edit: Just searched Autotempest and found the following Craigslist ads. The search was for cars within 150miles of the New Jersey zip code 07011.
1984 Supra, 128k miles but looks to be in perfect condition. The interior looks mint. Based on the pics, the asking price of $5200 seems like a bargain.

1985 Supra, Ad has no information other than the phone number and pics. The exterior and interior(From what can be seen through the windows) look to be in great shape! This one's also $5200

1985 Supra, Ad says it's "super clean" but only has 2 exterior pics. The exterior seems to be in great shape. He has no asking price but says its a "gem" and asks to make an offer.

This last one is a 1982 Supra. It looks like it just rolled out of the dealer showroom, but it's expensive with an asking price of $12500 OBO. Despite its perfect condition, I've never seen a mk2 supra sell for that price, especially one with 141k miles. haha

If none are in your price range, search on Autotempest and find one you like within your budget, but remember that parts for these cars are EXTREMELY hard to find.Last edited by celipra; 09-07-2012 at 02:38 AM.

The guy looking for a car is in Kansas, not New Jersey. Yes, I noticed the emblem, and the fact that it is only on one side. Very peculiar! Also noticed that the front bumper cover is not painted as it should be. For me, part of the enjoyment is a successful search for parts, and they are out there if you are persistant. Mechanical type parts for the engine, drive train, or suspension that were also used on other models seem to be still available from Toyota, but for the body or interior, you must do some searching. Still, a CA car "should" be rust free, and would make the basis of a nice car, even if you have to do some sorting out. I just don't know if the asking price is fair. Since I have spent more than that getting a respray and new leather for the interior, it would probably be fair to me if it is in decent mechanical shape Others just have to "pays your money and takes your choice".
