factory black leather....only on 83 ...

my white 83 has it, does anyone else have it?????? I have never ever seen one besides mine, toyota told me in 84 when I bought the car only produced in 83 and only 300 got it.

At one point, I had (3) '83 p-types with black leather, still have one.

...but no pictures of them, sadly.

Yeah they are stupid rare, I've only seen one 83 in person that had the original black leather. Seen bits of them swapped into other cars before. For the longest time Nix99, an autowrecker in WA, had a complete black leather interior removed and in storage. They wanted like a grand for it, not sure if they still have it (or are still around).

Hey, while we're on the subject of rare ass 83s, anyone here ever see an 83 with a legit factory original 130mph/200kmph speedo cluster? I'm picking up a celica tommorrow with one and nothing else about the car leads me to belive the cluster has been swapped (milage looks legit). I'm wondering if they started putting them in towards the end of the 83 model year.

I have seen a late model dark blue '83 with a 130mph cluster, it was a JUNE make IIRC, everything else about the car was '83 however.

Yep, it's been talked about on our forum that some late 83's received 84 parts as the early parts stock ran out and they changed over.

I have a used gray leather interior that I'm thinking of redying black. It's not mint or anything, so a good candidate for modifying.
