    Butthurt rage

So, recently my 84 7mgte supra has been undergoing a lot of work. Within the last three months car has gotten a 57trim ct26, downpipe gasket, synapse bov, 2.5in piping, 3in spearco intercooler, 660cc injectors, new valve cover gasket, new plugs & wires, strut inserts, and was tuned on the dyno to 330 on 9lbs.. It was driving real nice for a few weeks and now more leaks have begun ;(. i'm 90% sure that my rings are starting to go, bottom end by where the trans connects is leaking, rear main seal is leaking.. Just wanted to write down my sob story. Do you think after all the work it is worth it to just finish the project? Ive debated selling it and I just can't seem to get myself to do it, I guess I just want to hear what others think..

Don't sell it. I've thought about selling mine a few times. When you sit there and think about all the time, money, effort you put into you're supra it will never add up. Winter is coming up... Tare it down and build it better man. Try not to get discouraged if it was easy everyone would be doing it.

If its not your DD, take a break from it..regroup and you will get motivated to fix it..i and many others on here have been down this road. Its all part of it. If this car is your DD, u messed up grom the get go by doing this. Most people have a seperate DD and the supra is a toy.

Hang in There...fix it and youll love it..!
I'm parting this entire supra out, email what u want..for sale add coming soon

Fix her up and I guarantee you when it running at the top of it's game you won't regret a thing. Remember it will be that much harder to sell if you decide to fix her again, that blood and sweat you let out becomes a real deterrent lol

My 2cents... Gaskets and seals are cheap, so are piston rings for that matter, labour however, is not. If you have a place to work and the proper tools, anything can be accomplished. If its your DD then get a winter beater. Get some parts, get some tools, get some friends and get some beer. Good luck turning your butthurt supra into a butthealed one!

these cars are leakers and we all know it. Boost makes them leak worse. i DD mine with a fresh 7mgte swap.... (i know i know.....)

its the best we can do to shake out the bugs and fix things as they come. Do you Glue all of your seals in? you should never ever put in a seal dry. FIPG on the outside and grease on the inside.

No car is going to be 100% reliable. the way i see it is i would rather spend $100-300 on maintenance every month for the supra than be locked into a $250 car payment.

Question, Do you plain on running BIG Boost? you could probably be making 330 with the stock 440's. not trying to bust on you. just wondering why so big?
The Supra is gone... What a fun project!

I appreciate all the input guys, I completely agree that all the time and work put into it is/will be worth it in the end. I was driving her everyday since the conversion but I think its time to go back to the camry for awhile and just take a couple months break and work on it for the winter. Wasn't trying to say 330hp on 9lbs is huge but however I was loving it while it was running prime and yes I plan to eventually push more boost once I can find a r154 x_x. All in all I slept on it last night and just decided that I wil not be leaving the celica supra game quite yet. Thankyou everyone

I completely agree. I've had thoughts of selling mine, but I don't think I can bring myself to do it... I've spent a stupid amount of time and money; there's no way I'll get it back out of the car and be able to build another to the same degree. I've considered trying to get a Celica Alltrac and building it; but I think I'd most likely keep both, this car has been my roots when it comes to learning. Everyone gets discouraged, it's something you'll learn to deal with, and it WILL stop bothering you eventually; ask me how I know .

I agree with this too. IMO DD's shouldn't be project cars, unless it's very minor modifications. I've been down this road 8-9 times, you'll get through it. I've melted a piston, I've rod knocked, I spun flywheel bolts loose twice, I've broke a w58, I've broke two diff's, etc...

Mine leaks too... just a slight oil leak from the front main; I've tried fixing it twice now and I'll be giving it another shot this winter. I also DD mine if it's not raining, it's as reliable as my daily driver; but I have a second vehicle for winter/rainy days/minor fixes.

    You'll pull through!

    Rehab is for quitters.
I've been in the same boat too. And now here I am again building another motor. But maybe im a glutton for punishment. I prefer to think of it as a labor of love.
