Good product...and sitting on toilet reading story..haha
Here is a story for you....highly recommend this product..Mother's California Gold Clay Bar...$22.00 at pep boys! The reason - my wife's red supra...front black bumper slightly faded had some marks from previous owner. So I decided to take front end apart...remove head lights, fog lights, turn signals, grill and anything else that came of easy. I figured I'll sand the black down, tape off entire car due to original paint job looking new, and I'll repaint. So I get bumper paint - black matt...first mistake, and wet sand and spray. I must say it turned out awesome. The wife comes out and takes a look. Well, you guys know that look...."it's not the same color as it was before...it's not shinny" and "if this was your supra...you would have had the whole thing repaint at toyota." So I run the car to the local autobody shop...they respray gloss black - it looks great. I take the car home and that night at about ten o'clock - the wife says "do you think you could put the car back together so I can take it to work tomorrow...I'll help"...so we do....almost two hours later...back together and looks good...and everything works and no extra screws.
So I do my usual - like every supra owner does before he goes to bed....I go out to the garage look at both supras and just walk around them and kinda run my hands down the side like the first time touching a BOOB. Well you know that feeling when you kinda lost your kid at the mall...I got that feeling..the entire car had overspray from the auto body clear coating the front black part they painted. As we know this car doesn't have a clear coat. It felt like the roughest sand paper you can buy. I try not to panic..wash the car at midnight...doesn't come off, try my buffer with all cutting polishes..still doesn't come off. End up taking to body shop that night and leave a NICE long letter explaining how my showroom finish is now like the f#@king beach. The next day they call me and tell me they got 90% of the overspray off and they had to do it by hand with polish due to them not wanting to hurt original paint. Then they tell me that it should come off with a couple of car washes and to use a clay bar...that might work also.
I get it home and I wasn't happy with their attempt. I ended up using old car polish that was sitting on the shelf from the late 90's..liquid type...that seemed to cut a lot better. Then I used the clay bar...wow...this car ended up coming out better than when this whole thing started. It was easy to use and cheap. The local auto paint store wanted $79 for theirs...all you need is the cheap one from pep boys. The guy at the auto body said "the tape must have lifted from the plastic cover they put over the car and that's how the clear coat over spray got on it....bull shit....i think they tried to do a quick spray and didn't tape the car! Seven hours later and the car is done....new coat of wax and seal...and no skin left on fingers and back is out!.....sorry for boring you...had to vent...hahaha

I love your stories and that your wife not only supports but partakes in your Celica Supra passion. I've been blessed with a supportive gf in my Celica Supra endeavors but she hasn't been bitten by the CS bug yet. I think she needs to drive mine a little bit. I am glad the product got the finish back.

I've used the Mother's product and like it, however I prefer the tougher clay bar from Griots Garage (hometown product, so slightly biased) - still not as abrasive as the professional ones used in the auto body shops. Use a speed shine product or distilled water, not tap water as your fluid (unless your water is really soft AKA slime water). However, you should use a different clay bar for each car, unless they are the same color (or split in half and label).
I usually get my Griots supplies when on sale at their retail store, and the annual garage sale - I now have the variable speed buffer.84P - Primer (faded Lt Blue Metallic) - bought March 5, 1984

I had to clay bar the wife's SUV after the neighbors got their fence stained on a windy day. First a wash barely did anything. Clay bar got it all. It turned the clay kinda brown too.
You'd think the idiots would come over and give us a friendly head's up or tarp it or something.85' P-Type 6m/ 5-speed/ White/ maroon leather
