How much is my MK2 worth? My '85 is for sale.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-...orcev4exp=true

You can bash/hate on me if you want, but I am ready to sell my MK2.

I've tried a couple ebay auctions that haven't hit the reserve, while I had a lot of unique bidders and received a lot of calls and emails about the car, no one stepped up to pay quite what I wanted at the time. I'm hoping a no reserve auction will bridge the gap to where I will be a satisfied seller.

So...all the foremost MK2 experts are here, and we always talk about what these cars are worth. Well here's a true test of market value at work.

Tell me, what will be the final bid?

I would love to see this car go to someone on the forums and I can always end the auction if someone here wants to pay $8k right now...or maybe less. Otherwise, I guess let's try to have a little fun with this and try not to get too negative.

If you don't mind, please spread the word about this car for sale if you may know someone, it really is a sweetheart of a Supra. People that have seen this car in person are really blown away by its mintness.

I would have paid you $7500 for it a couple months ago when I was looking for a car. But it's definitely worth all of 9k, Eric. Wish I had some more money saved up, I'm looking for another car for a family member, but this is out of the budget.

I really thought your car would sell. It's in great shape with the right options, color, and miles. I think it's just that market is a niche market, with a small amount of buyers and a small amount of vehicles for sale. Have you looked into a local auction house? I can't justify buying your Supra because it's too nice. I don't have enough covered spaces for it, and I would cringe if it was left out when we got a stray hail storm. Good luck with the sale.

Even if there is many MK2 lovers here, the ones with money ready to buy are not all here.
It's been written here before, most of the cs members don't have that kind of money available to put on a car that
deserve to see darkness of a garage for most of it's time.

Looks like I've got some competition here:

A nice black '83 is also up for sale, amazing paint, otherwise plenty of imperfections, maybe a $7-8k car? Safe to bid with a reserve probably over $10k so it's got a lot of hits right now. What do you this one is worth?

Why not make sure the a/c is 100% before selling? That is a big selling point for me and I'd pay a premium to know its 100%.

    It should fetch 8k+

Good question, I haven't tried to track down the leak, I probably should have just charged it and said "it works fine but loses its charge after a while". Perhaps I'm too "full disclosure" in this case.

As far as making the a/c 100%, I'm just not willing to do all the disassembly required to make that happen - and that's assuming it's just leaky o-rings. If there was a Jim King kit available I would consider it, but at the same time I'm sure it would be a backwards investment for me that the new buyer would benefit greatly from.

I can't think of too many Mk2s that are put up for sale with working a/c systems, actually I can't think of any that I can remeber right now. I didn't want to ruin(that may be too strong a word) the components currently on the car by converting it to R-134. so I just left it as is. The a/c does work well with a fresh Freeze 12 charge FWIW.

Love the straight jacking points. Never seen a Supra that wasn't damaged there.
