What exhaust to go with?
The exhaust on my brothers 85 is basically a glass pack tube, no real muffler. The tip protrudes out the back a bit too far as well, but we are looking to go with something that's a bit quieter. Not that it doesn't sound cool...
What do you guys suggest? It doesn't have to be stock, just something a bit quieter than what is essentially a straight pipe. Be nice if it could be tucked up a bit more so it doesn't hang down really low..

Raptor 3 inch. It's a little much for a NA car but go with the 2.5. Both vendors carry them. Most members go with these...

Raptor for sure, have the 3in. W/ metallic cat cause I plan on going turbo later. Sounds glorious. Also, pretty loud, not that I'm complaining.

I've been running the Raptor Racing 2.5" exhaust for a couple years now. I would never go with anything else, it simply sounds amazing and compliments these cars very well!
A little sound clip for you, this is me racing my buddies superchaged Mustang GT at Cayuga.

I have been fiddling around with my exhaust also. I deleted the cat and had the stock muffler... Hated how it sounded after that then just cut off the muffler and I hated that even more except the sound during idle. I now have a cheap turbo cherrybomb which sounded like the stock muffler but just a tad louder lol

I don't think you'll notice much difference between most systems. The most important part, if you want it a bit quieter, but louder than stock, is the muffler. The one that came with my Raptor 3" full system is pretty loud and drones a bit, and it even has a resonator. I'd say talk to a vendor and ask about a quieter muffler.

Worst case scenario is we will just clamp an OeM equivalent on back there. I'm used to an 89 Jeep Wrangler with 4 angry squirrels under the hood, so this thing is actually really quiet by comparison. Its not going to be a race car for him, its going to be a daily driver until he can save up to buy a cheap corolla or whatever, then he can make this a toy.
Ill relay the info to my brother, he definitely wants to get something WITHOUT that snappy resonating sound.
