Gauge fuse keeps blowing
I have a 83 celica supra with 25k miles in mint condition, everything works flawlessly but for some reason it started blowing the gauge fuse. I've tried pulling the blower fan breaker, power window breaker and relay and it still blows the fuse. It seems to blow randomly, sometimes it can drive for hours without blowing and sometime only seconds. It seems to always blow when the car is warm and in reverse, I was thinking maybe neutral safety switch?
Has anyone had a similar problem or know how to diagnose this?
Thanks

Adding fuses
You can try to wire in separate, new, in line fuses to each of the electrical parts that branch off from the fuse that blows , Then you will have a way of knowing which part is shorting out, I would try to repeatedly putting the car in reverse to see if you can narrow down the search. Carl H

what I would do is unplug things that you think are making that fuze blow and drive it around. Plug things in one by one to narrow down what it might be to. It is the easiest way to track whats going on.

I think it has to do with the reverse lights. If I put the car in reverse, even with the engine off the fuse blows. Where is the backuplight switch located?

if its a 5 speed, im pretty sure its on the driver side of the tranny and its a round plug. try unplugging that and see if she doesnt blow

Its a auto so It might have something to do with the neutral start switch/backup light

I think I had the same issue a few years back in my 82.

Two wires were grounding out on each other, eventually it started smoking from the area; which was a dead giveaway..
