'85 P type electrical issues
New to the forum, searched most of the tech threads but couldnt find my answer. The problem is between the headlights and horn/radio/hazards. The headlights don't work unless the Hazard/Horn fuse under the hood is pulled, when it is no radio, horn or hazards, vise versa, when it is plugged in everything works except the headlights. Ive combed through as much wiring i can but dont have any ideas. Let me know if any of you do, thanks.

Headlight Relays? Could they be messing up with the fuses.
Worth swapping and trying.1982 Terra Cotta P-Type

The link between the 2 systems is the retractor control relay, which appears to normally get it's power from the horn/hazard fuse. Looks like from the wiring diagram that the headlights wouldn't go up/down without that fuse, so I'm wondering if yours are just up all the time? Still not sure what could be going on, though. The only other link I see between both systems is the theft control system.

I grabbed a few relays at the junkyard out of various other toyotas but none worked, i used a piece of 14 gauge wire in place of the relay and the lights work, so I ordered a new one hope It solves the problem. If not, going to have to search deeper.

Your going to have to search deeper, there is no way that relay can be the problem. If that was bad, the headlights would not light, whether the horn/hazard fuse is out or in. I'm betting the switch wire to the headlight relay never tells it to come on, which is why all the relays you try seem to be bad and bypassing the relay works.

Yea kinda figured, It came in today and no good. Ill grab the diagram and go look around. My other fun problem is the wiper motor will not park, it came working out of another car. Swapped the wiper control and still nada. So more wiring searching today.

im leaning toward the headlight-wiper combo assembly, remove the lower panel and check for loose connections.

The driverside kick panel? I was in there earlier, I saw the green headlight control box thing but what should I look for.

Well got the wipers to work, Pulled the cover off the motor, a tab was bent down that shouldnt have been. So back at it for the lights.
