Can anyone tell me what bolts to use for an '83 hood?
The '83 I purchased is partially disassembled and the hood is one thing left to be re-installed and the previous owner said the bolts were misplaced. Can someone please tell me what size bolts are required to bolt the hood back on? Thanks!

Yeah, but I need to know length and whether it's fine or coarse threads. I was hoping to pick some up from the hardware store and not have to try to get them form a Toyota dealership.

Fine thread like any Japanese car. Take any small bolt out of something like easy to get too. thread it into you're hood to make it fits nice. Take it a hardware store and use a thread gauge most stores have them just ask. It's most likely somthing like 1.25 IIRC just make sure it's not to long. I have had a few parts cars so I pretty much have a collection of bolts in bids organized in size and shape.

The thing is I don't have the car yet. I'll be towing it home this weekend and I want to get the hood on it for transport. So, I kind of need to know exactly what I can use to secure it.

Take 4 12mm bolts out of somewhere else, and use them to bolt the hood on. I know there are at least 4 12mm bolts that arent that important somewhere on that car lol

IIRC the actual bolt size is m8x1.50 maybe M8x1.25, the head size is 12mm but that will be irrelivant if replacing with an auto parts bolt in most cases.

Its 8x1.25, you need four, and 1/2 to 3/4" long should work.

-Edit: You'll also need some washers to go with, as the slots / holes in the hood hinges allow for adjustability.Last edited by rabidchimp.com; 10-26-2012 at 11:00 AM.
