I know. They just have the wrong information.

The part number for the '84 is the same part number for the '89 hood lifts, which is the same for the '85-'86 MK2. All MK2's had the same exact style of hood lifts and mounts. That was one thing that never changed throughout the manufacturing cycle of the cars. I even called my local Toyota dealer and they confirmed that the p/n for the '85 was the same as the '83.

If necessary, order for the '83 or '84 Supra. Both use part number 10279. Extended length: 15.63". Compressed length: 9.88".

I used these because they are longer and more powerful:
    https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/va...upport-30578w/
The ones that I used fit the IS 300 Lexus. Please verify.
You may have to modify one end to make it fit.
    Yes,they are LIFETIME.

    Measure the old ones.
Mine are 27 1/4" extended length. For the hatch.

    SupraPilot,

I went to the site and tried selecting the 1985 Toyota Celica Supra and it displayed no matching rear hatch struts.
However, when I entered the part number 4726 in the Search box, I got hits.

    https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/st...-strut-10263w/
This page says that they are available in stock.

    The specifications are:
    Manufacturer: Strong Arm
    Price: US$19.85 Each
    Compressed Length: 15.98"
    Stroke: 8.89"
    Rod Diameter: 0.39"
    Extended Length 24.87"
    Force: 92 Pounds
Body End Description: Ball Socket U Band (Nylon)=10mm=3/8"=.39"
Rod End Description: Ball Socket U Band (Nylon)=10mm=3/8"=.39"

This seems to be the one mentioned at the beginning of the thread!

There seem to be other similar parts with slightly different opening pressure. There are 85psi units from both Strong Arm and Lift SUPPORTS Depot. they appear to be identical except the Strong Arm end fitting is a nylon fitting and the Lift SUPPORTS Depot uses a steel fitting that fits the same ball socket.
    Strong Arm Part Number 4843
Lift SUPPORTS Depot Part Number 4843S10

When I was checking for parts at my work(PepBoys) I'm sure we actually did carry the support lifts for the back hatch, the brand was Sachs. I haven't tried these yet but I don't see why they wouldn't work, and you may even be able to get them same day.
It's funny that ddd228 meantions the Lexus IS 300, if I remember right I think that that car uses the same CV axels that our cars use. Kinda random but it may come in handy some day \_(ツ)_/

I bought hatch lift supports from Amazon called "Tuff Supports". They fit well but are very weak and will barely hold the hatch up in cold temperatures.
