    Details

For years brake pad selection is something we've had issues with in the MK2 community. Porterfields have always been considered one of the best pads on the market but finding a vendor to stock them has proven difficult from time to time. I've always wanted to carry them but there is a VERY large buy in that's required to get that account.

I really wanted to be able to offer them for my Big Brake Kit Group buy with the added bonus of stocking units for the MK2 an MK3. But a group buy in the traditional sense isn't possible because they have VERY strict MAP (minimum advertised pricing) Policies so MSRP is all vendors area allowed to advertise. What I will do is cover the cost of shipping these for the duration of the group buy.

I will be offer their R-4 and their R4-S pads for the Dynapro BBK Caliper, MK2, MK3 and MK4 calipers. After the group buy I will only be stocking Dynapro, MK2 and MK3 Pads.

So this isn't really a group buy to get better pricing, it's just a group buy to save you a couple of dollars on shipping while giving me the opportunity to be able to place a large enough order to stock these for future sales.

I know a few of you asked before and I did check but unfortunately there is no such pad, they either discontinued it or they never did make it.

I'll have to look up some reviews again when i get some free time, but from what i read last time these were mentioned r4-s is supposed to be nice and streetable with low dust that is very easy to clean.

Thanks for the awesome links. I have never personally used them but over the years I've heard nothing but great reviews of both the R-4 and R4-S's...thanks again.

If you got the R4-E for the 92 Q45 as part of the deal I'd buy 2 sets. I have a 24-hour race coming up in Dec.

Have you ever purchased these for the Q45 in the R4-E compound? I don't see any in the catalog, only R4-S...I can always call on Monday but was just curious if this was something they ever offered before.

I couldn't find anything bad about the r4-s anywhere, nothing but rave reviews except for folks looking for extreme duty pads for track day only cars. In for a set for stock brakes, looking forward to trying them out.

This seems to be the only negative to the Q45/MPV BBK - there are few race pads available, and even less endurance race pads. I'll probably have to send a set of backing plates to Porterfield or Carbotech so they can build me some.

I'm hoping for an answer from them today/tomorrow...i see no reason to have to send the backing plate as they already have that backing plate.
