A/C R-12 Recharge

Guys and Gals just added 2oz of R12 and 2oz oil charge to the A/C system on the 86. After adding the oil charge/conditioner to the system I got 40F at the vents with the outside temperature at 80F.

After testing the low pressure port on the A/C compressor (closest to the drivers side fender) with the phase oil testers it indicated the system was clean but needed an oil charge. I knew the system needed R12 when at higher outside temps 95F-100F the cab wasnt cooling like it used to ;-((

I will probably add another 2-4 oz of R12 and oil charge once I test the system at afternoon time temps.

I used a R-12 Recharge hose kit from Interdynamics # MB-2 available from Pep Boys, Kragen, Wal Mart, K-Mart, etc check the web site for more national retailers.

That is a really good price for R12 but it's still pretty steep. You might want to check out es-12a. It's compatible with R-12 but it's even lighter so it'll blow colder and be easier on your system. You can read more about it in the a/c FAQ.
