Hmmm, I wonder if that is why I got my Aerocatch kit at such a good price. I got the 120-2000 plus kit for about $67, then the Password backing kit for about $35. Not sure how much the New for 2013 Aerocatch kit will sell for, or if its even available, but the Password kit has additional mounting templates and install hardware that "might" make install easier, especially if the mounting location has underbracing to cut through. Best to read up on the vast on-line experiences of others. I have only had a chance to briefly browse it, but my initial impression is the brackets are a very good idea, and the Password folks put some good thought into their product. That said, mounting the latches in a fairly flat, underbrace free area, should be pretty easy, just not sure yet where I will mount mine.
BTW, and update on the delay of CF hood shipments. Again, apologies to all. Delays happen, and hopefully all results in better fitment. Don at ADVAN mentioned that shipments will begin again end of this week, so things should be moving again. Thanks for understanding and your patience!
Interesting....I just checked my two AeroCatch pin sets...neither have the backing plates. I think I will pick up a couple sets as well.
I thought I got a great deal...figures.
Holy Shit!! I just got a call from the truckers in MKE. My hood is here and they set up a delivery appointment to my front door. The guy said, "you expecting a shipment of furniture?" LOL.
So much for delaying my delivery til next month for more spring-like weather. We have another winter storm coming tomorrow according to the weatherguy.
LOL I had been wondering why I haven't received a tracking number. Oh well, glad you got yours to gawk over for the next couple months Dave haha!
Any concerns regarding the following caveat from PWJDM (Password:JDM) on their AeroCatch Mounting Plate?
Warning: Since the AeroCatch system is flat, you must consider that mounting these may create noticeable flat spots in
your hood. If your car hood has a lot of curvature to it, you will flatten and dent your hood considerably by mounting
this system since it sandwiches your hood between the AeroCatch and our mounting plate.
I will try to mount the aerocatch in a relatively flat area, hopefully. I don't want to stress the hood too much, forcing curved surface onto flat plate.
Well, good to hear! David was 2nd on the list so ADVAN is working pretty much in order, unless other arrangements are made. Don at ADVAN has been pretty good about sending out shipping info once the boxed hood is going out. Of course the delay recently put the process behind a bit, but I believe hoods are going out now, as they are made.
Tanya, not to worry, you will get yours before too long. Yes, a bit slower than originally expected, but ADVAN is working on these hoods with every batch of product they make. Still, they aren't just making our Supra hoods, so we get about 2 pieces a week.
I am so very much looking forward to some pics as people receive their hoods, good pics!
