Check out the FAQ. 93 Camry works with 84/85 plug soldered in and then read about the charge light fix.

Easy enough to just switch the crank pulley, water pump pulley, and lower alternator bracket to have the later setup.

The round plug can be bough new. $12 from Drift motion I think. And follow the repining pictures in the thread. Then do the charge light mod and you are all set.

Round Plug fom Drift Motion, just haven't found anywhere else that sells them.

I forgot to mention the need fo the 84/85 crank pulley but I was able to use the original alt. bracket in my 83 unless my memory is fading.

The early alternators have the two outie ears and the modern alternators have the opposite big inside ear.

Does the 1985 crank pulley fit the 1983 without modifications?

Fit, Yes. Though the pulley arrangement is different, but I think that is what you are going for anyway. 5M crank snout is the same size for all years.
