    Hatch strut lube

I get a decent bit of chattering on my hatch struts when lifting. OEM struts are tight with good pressure and hold the hatch up beautifully, but the chattering is annoying. Since the car sat in a garage for a number of years, I'm thinking the seals just need some lube. Any insight on the best lube for this?

Any other options for the chattering aside from replacement? Trying to keep this thing as original as possible.

Never use lube on the hatch struts? Will some spray silicone be bad?
