I am experiencing shake at 1400 rpm and 4000 rpms. I have a 85 with manual trans. The vibration/shake transmits into gearshift and sounds like I have bumblebees in transmission! This happens when out of gear and while driving. Idles smoothly and just has this vibration that seems to be towards rear of engine. I did a swap this engine in this spring. Harmonic balancer is torqued to spec, compression is good, timing set and belt timing marks are right on.
The one error I may have made was transferring my flywheel from orig motor, it was previously resurfaced and I did reuse pressure plate and throwout as they visually good. I did buy a eBay clutch new aisin. pilot bearing was good.
I know that this engine should be smooth and it drives me crazy with the shaking!
Hoping someone in this form has experienced this and can share their knowledge.
Thanks In advance Dave

You found the problem already.
I'll suspect the clutch ASSEMBLY.
I changed my torque converter from a different engine=BAD.
The question is...internally or externally balanced. Now,we know.
That condition will pound the crap out of the rear main seal and bearings.
