'79 Supra door latch plastic insert

    Hi Everyone,

I just bought a '79 Supra. It needs some love that I'd like to give it.

I had an '80 Celica years ago, and one day the door became very difficult to close. You had to slam it. Went to the Toyota parts department and they sold me a plastic insert that went in the door latch. Popped it in and problem was gone.

Well, this Supra has the same problem. But I can't find those plastic inserts anywhere. I went to the dealer and they told me it wasn't even a seperate part and I'd have to buy a whole latch assembly. Well - it USED to be a part.

Does anyone have any insight on this or have any suggestions for getting this fixed?

    Thanks,

    Ed

    Ed, Welcome to the forums!!

I would post your search for the plastic insert in the MK1 Discussion section,

    https://www.celicasupra.com/forums/f...sion-1979-1981

And a general location is helpful if other forum members are near your that could assist!!
