I went to buy some OEM accessories for my daughters Hyundai Tuscon and the order got cancelled due to Prop 65...

Well the first time I was like I get it Prop 65 warning about chemicals dangers and so forth, now the 2nd time makes me wonder if Hyundai is forcing me to buy parts at the local (CA.) dealer...instead of online...The same parts I can walk into any Hyundai parts dept. in California and buy over the counter...weird...

I actually called the credit card company to find out and they confirmed merchant cancelled the order...

It is all about lobbying. Probably auto corporations stacked the deck in their favor with their lobbying money.

Parts manager emailed me directly to tell me re Prop 65...parts ordered were both OEM parts, a bumper protector and wheel locks.

You can use my address in Washington State to ship it to and I can mail the CONTRABAND to you in Kalifornia.

It has nothing to do with proposition 65.
There is always another way and another choice to bypass State regulations. Who is going to come after me?

Dave, I appreciate the offer Sir!! Think I'm good ordered using PayPal and it went through I think...jez for an OEM bumper applique and wheel locks really???

Hmmm besides FF/EMT X 37+ yrs... 25 yrs as a Haz Mat Specialist/Technician, EPA 609 license for good ole R12 I do have to remind UPS how to ship ORM D via ground when I ship R12...Drop in HC12 (hydrocarbon based) now deemed illegal by EPA after it was legal??

versed in spirit of the law vs letter of the law...carry my CHP/CARB letter for muffler noise in case I get a new kid (rookie) and try to write me up for noisy muffler...SAME for underhood inspection go get an inspection warrant...

Oh yeah I hope to be on a roadside CARB smog station with CHP Officers directing me to the testing site and ASK me to voluntarily have my vehicle smoged checked on the side of the road for the "good" of the environment when THEY are only directing pre 2000 model yr vehicles to be re-tested...that's not going to happen...

I had Rock Auto bounce an order because I have to pay state sales tax AND a city sales tax. I guess they're database software can't keep up with all the extra taxes different states and cities impose.....

Voluntary sniff test.

I know what ORM D is.
I have 3 one pound bombs of R-12.
My AC was removed 4 years ago,Arch.

Voluntary smog check? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
"Excuse me sir, will you voluntarily bend over?"
"No officer, My vehicle is California smog compliant."

"May I search your vehicle?", the polite Cop says.

"No sir,I do NOT consent to a search, without a warrant".
"Am I being detained? Am I free to go,now?'"
One more time: "Am I free to go now?"

Don't answer ANY questions, like where are you going, where did you come from, your house?Hey nice car, what year was it made? "It's on my registration, officer."Are those stock wheels? NO ANSWER,just shrug your shoulders.Have you been drinking?
Just shake your head---DO NOT TALK! The cops are trained to squeeze any information out of you. If the question is a yes or no question, shake your head-DO NOT TALK.
Do you have any fire arms in your car? Shake your head.
Your drivers license will state that you have a CCW permit,if you do.
As soon as the Cop sees that,he will reach for his hand gun. You say...."Too late". Well,I would not say that.

Best advice ever given. DO NOT TALK!!! I would refer back to post #5 you made Dave. That is scary to me to post that on an open forum. When I was in the gun business in Alabama I could not sell something to some one if it was not legal to own in their state even if it was legal in mine. Had it happen multiple times. With California residents wanting AR receivers and Illinois residents wanting to purchase a legal firearm in their state but they did not have an Illinois FOID card (firearm owners ID). Granted these were purchases that required a 4473 be filled out and background check called in. But the law was that even if I was not aware of the state laws I could be charged under some federal law for distributing illegal items. Even parts like magazines could have put me in a jackpot (had to refuse a personal sell to some one in CA for some cloth belts for a 191A4).
That's just me, but just because you are paranoid doesn't mean some one is not out to get you.

Oops,Tazmo2009. The ATF could come after me.I'm not a licensed firearms dealer in my state. That was a stupid ,bone-head offer.
Nice guys go to prison too,if they break the law.
Would California law prevent me from transferring an illegal firearm PART to a California resident? ORM-D R-12 also?
Perhaps that would be a Federal issue as well.
The laws are so blurred between state and federal laws. Ignorance is no excuse.

SIDE subject:OK to buy,but not transport WEED across a State line TO or FROM a State that allows weed sales. That is still illegal in federal laws.

We still have to be aware of federal laws that don't READ the same as State laws.
In either instance,I could be charged with illegal transportation of a weapons PART to a state that does not allow possession of such parts? Furthermore,my recipient can be charged with illegal possession of such parts.
(I deleted that foolish post)*************************************************************************

Then,I'll assume it would be illegal to mail or transport any restricted prop 65 item TO California, then?
They have VERY restrictive laws that scares the crap (right ) out of me.

Right now,I must apologize to ask about these legal questions,ON A PUBLIC FORUM."Big Brother" is listening.(Oh,shit)

I would not like to spend my retirement years inside a Federal prison system.

In California,I would ask my defense attorney for a request to be transferred to Lompoc.
The food is better there.

Tazmo, please PM me (and other members)with your legal advice and keep this info out of a public forum,if you please.
(There is more.)

Paranoid? No,you are careful.
The DEA and the ATF guys have a LOT of resources and intel.
Probably more than we think.
Hopefully, they go after a network of large fish, not guppies.
Thanks.
