car wont charge with new alternator. yes we checked alternator to be good... wth

    Omg...
this car is really kicking my ass
I am trying to bring it back from sitting for so long..
    anyways
    My old alternator was weak.
My battery seems to be fine still
its at about 12 volts right now. Will start charging it again because of me starting it letting it run and so forth.

I installed a new reman alternator from autozone
checked the charging system and nothing.
so i went back with the alternator and had them check it
said it passed twice on the test
    ... ok

Went home and re did the main 12v volt , i just cut and re did the O connection (the one with the bolt)
triple checked everything to see everything was grounded or was running current.
    12v main was reading fine
and the plug with 3 holes or wires in it seemed to all be putting out something when the ignition was on...
followed the wires to the battery and seems to be all connected..
checked the connections on the battery and seemed to be ok

started the car and chcked once again..
    still no charge...
    WTF!

battery light is on idk... im lost.

should i just take it out and have them check the alternator again but this time i wanna see the test....

I did this exact same thing but it turned out that my belt tension wasn't tight enough even though it looked fine. Belt was spinning, pully was spinning, no squealing noises. Cranked up the tension and it started working perfectly.

thanks for helping me out. I double checked tension and its nice and taught.

I wouldve change the alternator for a newer version one like the camry upgrade but if i cant get the stock one to work i dont see the point.

Tomorrow im gonna charge up the battery to max and test it out underload via turning on headlights and such.
    wish me luck

2 black wires came out positive and the white one was negative. is this normal?

Did you check the 7.5 amp CHARGE fuse. The wire voltages on the plug are correct.A bad charge light
relay will not let the battery charge.Had to replace mine back in the 90's.

charged up the battery and installed evreythiung agian. still no charge..
took it all out and went to my nearest autozone and they tested both with flying colors..
GRRR this car is my worst enemy atm... other than my neighbor who opens his doors aggresively on my van.. anyways

    Thanks for chimming in here.
I did check the 7.5 amp fuse and looked to be good. power is going through it.
Should I replace the charge lamp relay?
I am gonna see if someone has it in stock somewhere on the island and do it.
Maybe it shorted and is not engaging correctly..
btw my bulb is out on my check engine light but i dont think that has anyhting to do with this..
the bulb work fine for the battery and the break and coolant light.
Btw coolant light is on too.....
    must be a short somewhere

If i cant find the relay should i do the diode trick?>
probably cant find that diode on the island either....

Did you check the fusible links inside the plastic box near the battery terminal? The alternator runs thru those. Are all the battery connection good and not corrorded? I would use an multimeter to make sure you don't have many ohm from alternator to battery.

    ooo really.
The fusible links in my car seems to be really deteriorated.
When i opened the fuse box and pressed on it in the middle. the rubber around the wires crackd and seemed very brittle.
oo this is a good sign, I actually went to autozone yestyerday and bought universal fusible links.

I bought 2 differenct sizezs. I even bought 4 sets from toyota parts deal.com . I think they only had the yellow in stock.

But since i have the universal one im gonna take ot the old one and cut to length and install. hopefully that works!
