I don't even know what year they actually added the valve? I know my '83 just has a hose from the case up to the valve cover with no valve in between. I'm guessing you can run it without the actual valve since earlier models of the 5MGE don't have one?

82/83 had two valves on the assembly. Can’t believe this part is no where.

I couldn’t believe it either, when I needed one for my ’84 and found nothing available besides used. My solution was this: More Information for SKP SKEGV556
I removed the diaphragm and threw away the rest, and installed the new diaphragm into the original valve.

I misspoke. I was thinking PCV valve. You’re talking EGR valve. That I do have on my “83. I had it off this winter and sucked through it and it worked so I guess mine is still good.

How does it affect the car if it’s not working?

When you used the SKP did you you have any issues tearing it apart. I already cracked mine open tried some spray rubber on it and it still did not seal. Did the diaphragm on this one line up with the three screws on the valve?

No issues taking it apart. I pried open the rim of the diaphragm housing and removed the nut that holds the rubber diaphragm on the rod.

If I remember correctly, the screw pattern was the same and the vacuum connection was oriented differently. But neither mattered, since I only cared about compatibility of the rubber diaphragm and that’s all that I used from the new valve.
