Hey guys, I found an engine from an 1985 P-type and want to swap it into my 1982 L-type.

My mechanic says its plug and play, and there wont be issues.

I trust my mechanic, but for this, I just want to make sure... and ask you guys.

Is it thAt simple?

Another question, would the bottom block on the 85 be able to replace a damage block on an 82?

thanks for any help

You will need an '85 ECU for sure. Then, deal with all of the extra vacuum lines. The '85 engine is complete?

There will be issues with the piston dome volumes.
Actually, why would you do that? The '85 is a MUCH better design. Please use the complete engine, please. Please.
My '84 has an '85 engine and the torque is WAY better, by my butt-torque dyno!

Swapping all the electronics is much harder since almost everything is different especially in 82. If you want the easy route transfer the intake manifold and all the harnesses from the 82 to the 85 engine. You'll have an issue with the charge light and the new alternator.
