Goodday and welcome to my restoration thread.

In March of 2023 i got the oppertunity to buy an Toyota Supra mk3 but it's in rough shape.

Specs:
08-1986
7M-GTE 3.0 I6 turbo
R154 manual
Targa top
~66k miles / 105k kilometers

The Toyota has had it's last inspection in 2004 and has been sitting ever since, so some welding is required.

But she runs and drives, it brakes with only the handbrake and stalls when warming up.
There's a lot to be done with it but that'll all be posted down below.

The plan is as following:
  • Make sure the tires stay inflated.
  • Get transport ready so i can get it inspected and registered(needed for a licenseplate).
After that's done the party can get started

The supra being welcomed to the group of germans

Hello Stefan,
It's a nice car and it's getting harder and harder to find such one these days. I don't think you will get quite as much information on this site. This page is for every MK II enthusiast and offers an incredible amount of information for these vehicles but only for the MK II.
I wish you a lot of success with the car and maybe we'll cross paths in Gemert (if I finally make it this year) there is every Year a big Japanese Classic Car Meeting.
Greetings Wolfgang

Hey there,
I have been searching on and off for a few years and a couple supra's did pop up but as i can recall mainly with an 7M-GE and automatic.

To be honest i was kind of hoping it would be kind of active / mk3 related since every other forum related website is dead in mk3 content, it's either mk2 and older or mk4 and newer, almost as if the mk3 is an misfit.

Besides that i do hope that the mk2 and mk3 platforms share a lot of parts / technology so i don't need to recreate the wheel every time i take something apart so to say.

It would be nice to go to such a meeting but i'm afraid it might take a year if not longer to get the supra patched up, something about too much projects and only 2 hands and a certain budget haha

I messaged one of the admins to move this thread into The Lounge since i think it doesn't belong in the mk2 section😬
at supra-forum.de you will find a forum which is not overly active but there are a handful of long-standing Mk III drivers with a lot of know-how present.
Hi, I did move the thread as requested.
Unfortunatly for you, the MK2 and 3 don't really share any parts, other than nuts and bolts. 7MGE an 5MGE have similar electronics, but that is about it.
I'm no expert on MK3 forum, but isn't the supraforum.com MK3 section active a bit?

Welcome!

Hi, thanks.

For some reason i completely missed that forum, it is somewhat active.

Hmm it's a shame the mk2 and mk3 don't really share parts, that sure make things alot harder to find out.
I think i might just choose to move over to the supraforums just to make things easier for myself.

I'll just update from time to time so there's something to see here 😬

Check out facebook groups for the mk3. There are a decent amount of active ones.
