My grandson has an 88 Cressida that sat for years before he bought it. It ran okay for about 3 months but now it will hesitate and surge, not start readily.
I suspect that it may be rust and junk in the fuel system.

I assumed that the gas line filters would be the same general style as on the Supra. However, this doesn't appear to be the case.
Is there an in-tank fuel sock to strain the worst of the junk from the tank?
It looks like the large fuel filter under the intake manifold (on the Supra anyways) is mounted on the firewall. Are there other locations?

I bought him the Cressida Service Manual and have asked him to check error codes, but I figured that the fuel filters could use replacing no matter what.
The previous owner was elderly and the car sat under a tarp for a long time.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

You can google the location, I assume and get a pic of the filter to help identify the existing filter. Inspect the fuel tank for sure. If in tank fuel pump, you will see the sock in there. I'm guessing rust in the tank based on the history of the car and the tarp that covered it. The supras have inspection hole in the cargo area. You manual should tell you if the Cressy has one,
