I am running the stock manifold currently. I wonder how far off a 5mge header would be. would probably have to make a custom flange for it.

Ive got a 5M Header for sale if this will fit.

5ME and 4ME use same exhaust manifold but not 5MGE.

I've owned several 4me and 5me powered Mark I Supras over the years. The single cam engine is a boat anchor. Headers aren't worth the time, effort, or expense - it won't breathe any better.
Swap in a 5mge and use the '82 Supra distributor (vacuum advance) and engine management. It's an easy swap - all the physical dimensions are the same for engine mounts and bellhousing bolts.
