My '82 Redpra P-type did the same damn thing!
We dumped the gas tank changed the fuel filter and it tried to start, but just wouldn't!
Make sure your timing belt is tight and in time, make sure plugs are clean, make SURE you're getting the right amount of fuel pressure, make sure there is nothing obstructing the intake, check your relays too! If the EFI or Main relay is bad, it will do the same thing, try to start but won't
We never figured out what was wrong w/ my Redpra and she is now a case of Dr.Pepper, I hope you have WAY better luck
