I was thinkin, what troubles would i run into, if i tried to turbo my 5mgte? I've seen rebuilt 5mge's go for like $600 on the internet. so what i was thinking was getting a head off an 81-82 car (lower compression), and using all the turbo pieces from a mk3 (ic, exhaust manifold, turbo, etc) and i can get someone to bend up the IC pipes for me. my question is, what kind of reliability problems would i have and whatnot?

Replacing your 5M head with an 82 or 83 head won't change your compression ration. Changing blocks though will.

do a whoooole lota research. reading on the internet is free, blowing up a motor or buying stuff that doesn't fit/work is pricey.
