It has just occured to me that the engine I'm rebuilding is out of an 83 - I've read here that the AFM and a couple other things are different - I was planning to swap the computer for the 83 in as well - does this mean I need to change the AFM too? (I have a couple off 83's, But I cleaned mine up for the 82 real nice last year) Anyone know of anything else I'd have to change?
Also, does anyone know if the computer is different for an automatic? My 82 is a 5-speed but the engine is from an auto.

i think your best bet would be to use the 82 ecu and afm

someone correct me if im wrong, but IMHO thats your easiest solution, and requires the least work, and i cant think of a reason to do more work than nessecary (for safety and reliability) when your swapping an engine.

im going through that same problem right now, but in reverse (82 into 83) i changed the whole intake to the 83 along with the AFM, wiring harness, and ECU (all 83) i read on here that it shouldnt matter about the ECU being mt or at, just make sure its the same year
