Hey all, hopefully someone here can answer this Q. In addition to my MK2 I have a 300ZX as my beater/winter car. Yesterday the timing belt tensioner completely self destructed. I found 3 bearings out of maybe 60! The timing belt skipped at least a few teeth (and maybe alot more) but the engine still ran and there didn't seem to be any awful sounds other than the seperated tensioner pieces hitting the TB cover. Right now it's all still apart until I get some parts. Due to the fact that it still ran I think I might be OK but if anyone here knows anything about this engine I'd appreciate the insight.

Pretty sure they are an interference engine. You'll probably be OK though.

It says '84 right in the title, but the TT is just what always pops in my head when I hear 300ZX

Those old 300s are nice but the quality falls short of the mKII. Also, the 5sp transmissions are crap.
