Do a thread search on Billboard, you will see many exemples of color and position.
iirc, on black cars they were gray.

Here is a pic taken from a Canadian 1982 GTS (P-type). It is fully original, low km. Owner is in the Montreal area.
I know and seen 2 off 1982 GTS with still original paint around here.

In my 85 French Canadian brochure, GTS is stated.
The flareless model (Ltype) was not available in 85 in Canada.

(Dale, an 83 should not be SDR/3F2, it could be SR - Super Red/3D1)

The digi dash is very cool to look at in operation. It also allows easy installation of the Trip computer when you can find one (I did!)

But!
It lacks real oil pressure gage (idiot lamp),
It lacks of the battery voltage gage,
is more sensive to the good condition of the speedo cable and angled adaptor on the tranny side, so speed value can be bouncy to read.

It is not a simple task to swap over, as 2 sensors need to be changed (oil Press and Fuel level), and some body harness - behind the dash needs to be swapped too. Connectors are not the same. Only a couple of very experienced members have succeded a swap.

I have had the digi dash in both of my Canadian Ptypes (GTS!), and prefer them over the analog, just because of 80's look about them.
To each is own preferences!
