'85 Mk 2 thermostat housing gasket engine side

local auto parts stores and RockAuto do not have a gasket for this and thinking I am going to have to make my own

anyone know of a gasket available?

Just use gasket maker / RTV. The Toyota FIPG is the best.

this gasket is attached to the runner to cylinder head gasket. If you get the intake manifold gasket set it will be there. You do have to remove the whole intake to install the gasket. You could just buy this and cut the section you need off.

I may have an extra one of those gaskets somewhere around here. If you're not in a rush, I'll try to go through my boxes of extra gaskets and see if I have it this weekend. No sense it sit in my gasket collection, I don't have any plans to restore my original 5mge sitting here and will definitely not need it.

Well, after going through boxes of gaskets and finally putting them all together into one box, I guess that's one I don't have! I swear, I have every other gasket though!!!

Sorry I wasn't able to help you out on this one. At this point, find the Toyota FIPG and get that rtv, it really does work well for that housing. A little goes a long way with that FIPG stuff too, just create a small bead all the way around, let it skin for a few minutes (usually about 5 minutes is what I give it) then put it together and bolt it down lightly. Torque it down to spec in about an hour and you should never have a leak from it!

You can also get a good RTV from the local parts house and make the gasket. Make sure the surfaces are clean and degreased and run around the bolt holes too.

I used Permatex Black on my water pump when the gasket showed up ripped. Then let it cure for 48 hours. Just because.
