I think I know what the results may turn out like, but I'd like to see just the same. My theory is that most of the "mod/race" owners do much of the posting, while the owners appreciating a "stock" MkII as mint as possible, are largely made up of the non "post ho" members, and the non member, lurking/learning surfers. Thanks for your input. :woowoo:

I don't think so. Theres lots of people here who think the mk2 is just great stock, but they still do things like RC pipes, exhaust and steering wheels, and they are plenty vocal on this forum. Maybe the people into racing and turboing are a little louder here, but either way, whats your point?

I wanted to see what the ratio may be, thought that was clear. I enjoy reading what everyone is doing, but myself have no interest in modding my stock 85, and polled to see how many may be in the same school of thought. Thanks for the input.

Funny shit. :)
love the look

IMO....the celica supra is the best car ever made......The only time I ever post is when I need a part, if people are having probs that I can help with or if I have a problem that I know nothing about.....and of course the pics........I have modded my car quite a bit to richen its performance capabilities and to hear that sweet ct 26 woosh away......however, I hate racing it makes little sense to me to drop $1,000 or $10,000 in you sweet almost antique car and then tear it apart trying to beat a piece or crap mustang or honda, or whatever.....sorry about the word trying as well...beating these cars comes naturally to the MKII.....I even love the stock rims on these cars....as long as they have been taken care of..........all I can say is toyota 4-ever 4-me
How about both:

'84 <- Currently BPUs only, but going 7M-GTE this month...after driving a boosted MkII, I was hooked

'85 <- BPUs (RC intake and cone filter, Brullen exhaust, few others) -> pristine shape, will stay mostly stock

One of the bennies of MSS: You can your have your turbo and your N/A as well.

the mk2 is not the best car ever made, its by far the best car ever made  . dont get me wrong its a good car compared to others, but there are tons much better than the mk2. Im sure Quick would say the same thing

So sell your Mk2s (you have several from what you've told me) since they're not the best car ever made and buy a Volvo or perhaps a Camry. They're nice little econo-boxes. Maybe you'll hook up with a librarian while you're at it.

<--------talks out of his ass sometimes
Duuuuh. Mod that shit.

Like Bob S said, thats what MSS is for!!! I have one I've modded the heck out of and another I drive almost daily that is pretty much stock and almost mint. I mostly enjoy making an old car look new again and the mk2 looked awfully good to me when they were introduced back in my teen age years so thats why I like them.

For me, it will vary.

Red 85 MKII: BPU (intake, exhaust, wheels, suspension, brakes, stereo, soon to be shifter).

Silver 81 MKI: Completely stock (everything under the hood, interior, stereo, etc). Have only changed out the shocks (Tokico HP's), will eventually do a minor suspension upgrade (81 Performance Package springs & swaybars (if I can ever find any), and PST bushings). May do a minor/simple exhaust upgrade (2.25" crush bend piping). This is the car that I'm trying to preserve & keep it as simple as possible, the MKII is the one that get's all of the nicer upgrades.
Mine needs more power, so I'm going turbo :D
I guess it depends on the stage of life your in, case in point how I joke that our '00 Sienna XLE is actually a GS300 I wish. Add the former 91 "Crapavan" to the mix and now Im talkin a GS400.

Then between my truck and 5th wheel I could a MKIV and spare change.

If I sold everthing I would have a STOCK 67 2000GT.

And our daughter wants a Lambo Diablo.

And I would still have a MK2 modded.
My only beef is that it is a CAR.
Sooner or later, everything that could ever possibly go wrong with it will be discussed and then you'll get flamed if you dont search :eek:nfire:

DJ,

People don't get flamed. But nobody wants to answer the same shit over and over on here. We all get tired of it. And believe it or not, sooner or later...you will too.

i love the mkII, very sweet looking, and for their time period, an impressive car.

im trying to restore certain portions (interior/exterior) to stock, and make the powertrain better through mods.
I've had the priviledge of riding in Chris Parvins car twice, and there's NO WAY I'm not going to mod my MKII. Roasting tires in third gear just by rolling into the throttle is an amazing feeling! Plus the styling is superb. I was thinking of making an all out drag car out of the MKI I have, but I figure I'll just make the MKII fast as hell, and save the drag car stuff for my old cars. ;) I like a little nostalga too, and I really think the MKI is a little too nice to do that to. Especially since it's as all together as it is. Considering making it daily driver material. :D
