i recently purchased an 84 mk2 supra which needs to have a few things fixed and just have a few questions based on the little things i see so far:

-the hydraulic supports for the hood no longer support the hood's weight at all and need to be replaced. are they the same size as the hatch supports or would i need to go get some new hood supports?

-drivers side window stuck up, i assume because of a dead window motor. i'm going to find out for sure if this is the case but how much do the windows motors run for? and could i possibly use a motor from a celica or other toyota vehicle?

-door locks like to randomly lock sometimes, anyone know what could be causing this?

-minor damage to the corner of the sunroof, purely aesthetic damage but i'm still wondering what the cost would be for a replacement

i'm sure i'll find some more stuff later on that needs fixing, but that's it for now

any answers would be helpful, thanks

Your new here so let me be the first of many to politly ask new members to use the search button. This is a really big problem so don't get offended or anything ... just use it in the future.

For the hood struts look in the restoration section under the heading "HOOD STRUTS" get it ... even the part number is given there.

Door locks ... again there are a number of threads on this that all lean towards the lock relay in the drivers door. THIS IS A VERRY COMMON PROBLEM. Look the around the forumn and find 'em.

Same with the other questions ... look around first and I think you will find ALL the information you need. If you can't find it in old threads, somebody here probable knows so ask away.

Well I can help on a couple of these....

>> Go to Autozone or something like that and tell em you need new hood supports for an 84 Supra, they'll hook you up, I did it myself when I got my car. And they aren't hard to put on at all... but you might need something to hold the hood up like a rod from another car or a friend with no life who can stand there for 30 minutes holding up a hood.

>> Well, when you hit down do you hear any electrical noise? Maybe the motor works and it's just jammed or maybe some moron superglued the window shut (someone did that in my friends Mercedes before he bought it). As for getting a new motor, again, try autozone, lol.. or a Supra parts car thats here.

>> Mine does the same thing, really pisses me off, I got tons of lock problems, I think it's electrical and well... I'm not even gonna bother with it, when I get some money I'll probably have a pro look at it.

if your doors lock randomly it maybe because a relay has gone bad, you might want to look into that
try searching for it, it has been talked about many many many times :wink: also try reading other threads that might sound like the problem your having, your not the only on with that problem :wink:
