I'm in the process of adding a diff cooler and would appreciate information on the banjo fittings you found for attaching hoses to the differential. I'm concerned about installing an AN fitting where the drain plug is due to the possibility of damage. You banjo looks stout enough to ease my concern.

Cheers! The diff is quite high up for me, and the intercooler sits about level with the sump, so not the lowest thing to ruin. I will probably fold up some thick steel to run a guard below the fill banjo ala bmw e36 so it has a bit of protection. The diff to subframe bolts on the side will be handy to fix it firmly. My banjo's have quite a tall head on the hex, so the thought did cross my mind to remove a bit of material to allow a bit more clearance. I wouldn't use alloy fixing if i were you - at least with steel it has a chance to bend if you do hit something, Ali will just snap!

Once again, The Machining wizard that is Dean Pulled out all the stops for me to Modify the pulleys so i didn't have to fork out for a new custom one. Thanks Dude, You ROCK!

Progress. Rainer Cliff popped over to make my strange idea's into reality with the door bars. Cheers bro!
Also - massive thanks to Mark and Dean for all their work to get it this far!

The car is a bit of a funny shape, and combined with me having to run the seat rails outboard to get it low enough i didn't have much space between the seat and the cage. I went for this style door bar, and tilted them out to touch the inside skin of the doors

Bottoms of the cage legs got boxed in with 3mm. I made them slightly different before, but this is how Rainer did it, and it's given me more ankle room

Door bars are flat in the middle of the door, so should protect me well against side impacts
(not that we want that of course)

Those A pillars are lookin sweet, i mean so is everything else, but that is my fav part right now. Except maybe the wheels? Too much goodness to decide :p
Its becoming a serious race car alright, looking good.

Cheers for the kind words guys! Yeah i am personally very happy with the door bars and how it's starting to take shape in general, although time & funds are against me as we are moving out of the workshop in December. Really gotta knuckle down and at least get it back together and running as the OBX exhaust header has become much more involved to make fit a RHD car. Clashes with the steering column in a BIG way and will really need to be outsourced to get it done in the timeframe :/ Next things to buy are external fuel pump, lines and the filler neck for the Jaz fuel cell. That's still bugging me to be honest as needs to go outside the car, and at a higher angle than the stock filler flap, as that's far too shallow and near horizontal. Have a few idea's though!
Does the upper section of the header interfere? If its just the lower section (Ypipe back), then take that as an opportunity to rebuild that entire piece. The OBX is decent, except for the fact that the final down pipe is a paltry 2 inchs in diameter, just like the stock exhaust :eekfacepalm:

It's mainly the back 3 hitting the steering knuckles - call them 4 - 5 -6. Number 3 fouls the knuckle too, just where it crosses under 4 -5-6. Only ones that kinda work would be the first two! In hindsight i maybe should have bought the OBX 7MGE manifold (umm sorry, header ;) ) as that is easier to mod.
And some updates...

I Bought a 4 litre kit of U Pol Raptor Truck bed liner for the underside o the car. Fully impressed with it!
That shits unscratchable it seems, and goes on lovely with a shultz gun on a compressor. Tigersealed the seams beforehand so hopefully it should last

SAM_2705 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

Used about 3 Litres of raptor on the underneath, so had a bit left to do the insides in places most likely to wear. The footwells have a nice waterproof and grippy surface now. The rest of the inside is going silver.

[IMGSAM_2707 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

I also did the boot floor with what i had left. Quite glad i did as it really tidies it up a lot

I have started to plumb up the new fuel system. The whole car is using 8mm ptfe lined braided stainless hose & AN6 fittings. All apart from the fuel cell and swirl pot - which are AN8, but thought this a bit overkill and meant buying lots of different fittings and hose, so keep it simple stupid i thought. The Lift pump from the Fuel cell is a Facet Red top, and the main pump is a Walbro GSL392, Which flows 255 LPH

[IMGSAM_2721 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

Placement of the Walbro Fuel pump and Bosch fuel filter is causing a bit of head scratching at the moment. I quite like this position as it's close to the swirl pot, and well out of the way of damage, but will have a play about before i drill any holes!

SAM_2717 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

I bought some AN6 through Bulkhead fittings for joining up the fuel lines from the underside of the car. I didn't want to run the lines through with grommets around the hose as think thats a bit sketchy. This sits under the diff carrier subframe so well out the way and close to the swirl pot
SAM_2720 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

Screwed on some 90 deg fittings, but looking at it, Straight ones are better
SAM_2719 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

Once i figure out where the main fuel pump and filter is going, i'll do the rest of the lines.
SAM_2716 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

I also made this dry break style filler a while ago. for the jgtc tyte look yo. hehehe:zzzzz:

Filler neck on the jaz fuel cell is quite tall so might chop a few cm off it to lower the angle
SAM_2698 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

Did some work to the dashboard in preparation for Car trimming wonderwoman Nicky to sprinkle some skill over it. Ordered a length of Black proper job Alcantara cloth to cover up the skanky old blue, so before i used some of the the dry carbon honeycomb dashboard that Amy's better half gave me, These Holes are for the AEM Wideband and Boost gauge, but have also ordered Oil pressure and temp gauges too.
SAM_2722 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

Where the heater vents for the side windows used to live, i cleaned up the corner that fouled the cage and boxed it in with some dry carbon fibre. A lot tidier.
[IMGSAM_2725 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

A wider shot so you can see the honeycomb and the tidied up corner
SAM_2723 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

The underside is nearly there, Just the diff and prop to fit really, but wanted to do the fuel lines first before putting them back in.

Its getting there! Man, everyone's building a race car mk2 right now lol

Hey, what are you running for IRS subframe bushings there? I see a lot of poly and no bracket. Have you seen the Raptor Racing Subframe bracket and the talk of why it was developed? I assume the red discs in your front subframe mounts there are poly (I didn't see a post on those, also, your old pics aren't working btw). If they are and are the same design as the Raptor and SuperPro bushings, then all that is holding your rear irs to the car is a thin lip of polyurethane...

I have the brackets man, was just rust treating and painting them with zinc so just put the nuts on the lugs to get the car off the lift. I made the bushes from 90a poly bar as there was no way i was spending that sort of money on Superpro ones, and i had all the other bushes so didn't need to buy a complete kit. I'm also fairly gutted about the pictures not working, but have noticed nearly everyone else has had their pictures wiped too. Think it's the forum itself that's causing it. All the other places i have posted the same photos are still there!

On a bit of a tight budget this month for progressing with the supra, but really needed to paint the interior so the loom and everything else can go back in to get it running. Didn't have access to a spray gun and any decent paint so had to resort to silver alloy wheel paint in rattle cans. 8 for £28 got the job done and racecar innit!

SAM_2747 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

Doesn't look half bad from a distance, and blends it all together a bit better.
[IMGSAM_2748 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

[IMGSAM_2749 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

The door bar tops will need a bit of protecting from scuffing i think, so might use either a bit of raptor or some vinyl 3M i had for the roof.

Up to the final skim on making it look like a non sunroof car. Used a combination of fibreglass bridging gunk and filler mixed up to give it some strength, then built it up in thinnish layers and sanding down with a long block

The boot floor is masked up where i sprayed the black raptor, as are the front foot wells
SAM_2746 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

Will let that dry and get to work putting the loom ect back in the car tomorrow

Good call on the plating. The paint on those wasn't fabulous. The SuperPro/Raptor subframe bushings aren't cheap for sure, but not pricey enough to make me spend the time making my own lol. I just scooped a set for a really good price too, they should be in this winter finally.

Well photobucket was being funny for everyone for a bit, but that's not what you use. Your new pics are fine, but your old ones don't work at all. I copied the URL from a dead one and pasted it into its own browser tab and it says "URL signature expired".
lol photobucket died YEARS ago. I use imgur.com now myself. I was using hotlinks from my tumblr, but imgur is the widely used account now.
my bushings came out reaaaaaal easy with the air hammer, took all of literally 5minutes to knock all 4 out
Amazing build! Will be going back through this again as well. I want to make a differential cooler as well and would like to see how you mounted the lines, rad, and pump. Is there a need to do something similar for the transmission?

I still need to rig mine up to the diff tbh, M18 Banjo's if i remember correctly!
The Nissan 240sx (we had the 200sx in jolly old england) diff cooler and pump set up has been used on a whole heap of other cars, and if you did suffer from baking hot transmissions you could certainly use it for cooling both.

Here are some photos i found from a R35 GTR with a similar set up.

Right, Onto the cars present state... (Gone back to Flickr As a host now so hopefully the pics shouldn't disappear anymore!)

Been off the supra for a few months after we had to give up the old workshop, so while the suns briefly out i decided to fit the Greddy (trust) manifold i ordered.
Fits like a dream around the Steering column. (OBX ones don't fit on RHD cars as it turns out - expensive faux pas!:SM130 (1):)

The Airflow meter will be replaced with a Map sensor eventually, when i invest in a Megasquirt DIYPNP 52 standalone ECU

It looks a bit more together than it did, and tried to put some paint on it before it went into winter hibernation

Door opened to show the door bars - Door cards are out & are being replaced with Carbon Fiber ones. Black Alcantara for the soft part on top.

Seats, dash and wiring back in, just needs the dash covered in either alcantara or flocked before the screen can go back in

SAM_2812 by neil walker, on Flickr

Center console switches. The Electric window switches had to be moved as they are mounted on the door cars and fouled the cages doorbars

Had some Dry weave carbon from an old BTCC touring car Dashboard my friend rescued from a junkyard years and years ago.
Was too good to not do anything with! Sides will be trimmed with carbon too, Using the offcuts from the door cards.
SAM_2815 by neil walker, on Flickr[/IMG]

The welded up sunroof didn't turn out too shabby in the end. A few low spots but the body shop will have to address that anyhow when it goes in for a repaint hopefully later on this summer

SAM_2814 by neil walker, on Flickr

Been waiting for a Samco Profuel filler pipe for sodding ages,so can't yet connect up the fuel filler, but ordered up the correct banjo bolts and fittings for the fuel rail now. m14 x 1.5 as it turns out

Looking good!

Another Trust header, would love to try one out one day. Its the only M motor header I havn't owned.

Yeah, i'm well happy with it. Worked out not too bad cost wise too. i bought it on a site called "Buyee" and got a 50% off shipping deal so was £650 in total for the manifold and downpipe inc shipping and taxes ect. Was £414 for the manifold and downpipe together though, so i've done my bit for the economy!

Considering buying one of these Ultra racing braces from a AE86 just for finding out if they will fit on a celica Supra. I could always just send it back if it's too far out, but would probably be able to make it work if it doesn't wind out enough.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/182365766764

Got lots of other stuff on my ebay watch list at the moment, but gone a bit crazy with the carbon trinkets this month so better calm it down haha
