my addcos are a goldish color. i got bored and started to polish the front swaybar. it comes out like chrome. what im wondering, is the gold stuff a protective coating of some sort? or is it ok to polish my swaybars to the chromelike finish? the polished part looks pretty baddass.

Who's going to be looking under your car??? Seems like a lot of work for no good reason. :p

well, i used blue magic metal polish, took about 30 sec for the 1 ft section i did. whatever the coating is it isnt much of a coating. i may just get them powdercoated to make them look nice and to protect them. oh, and just cause most people dont look under the car doesnt mean i cant keep mine clean and spiffy  i plan on powdercoating the strut tubes when i do the coilovers, and also prolly will paint all the control arms and possibly the sub frames as well.

Ha, my Addcos already corroded and I never touched the crappy coating they put on them. Funny thing is, in catalogs I've seen Addco swaybars powdercoated or painted red. I guess they couldn't be bothered with ours though :(

i dont know. ive had my addcos sitting in my room prolly around 2 years. ive had them since before i did the 7mgte swap to my 84 2 years ago. anyway, i wish i could polish them and them not corrode, ,they would come out pretty sweet. but oh well. ill just get them powdercoated the same color that im going to do the valve covers and pulleys when i build the race motor.

The story I got on that is that when ADDCO sells bars through their resellers like Summit and the like they get painted red. When they sell them direct they are unpainted.

Polish them and put a clear coat on it if you want the polished look. The more polished they are the least likely they are to corrode when bare.
