Well guys, I found some new wheels....these babies are only $199.00 per wheel. They are made by ADR Design. The M-Sport (Hyper Sliver). 4 bolt 17"

I also found a ton of wheels on this site that fit our cars bolt pattern!!

be careful

Im 99% sure they do not offer the correct offsetand lug pattern. Please confirm with them:

a. 60.1mm centerbore
b. 4:114.3 bolt circle
c. ~10mm or less offset

You will find plenty of wheels with that lug pattern. The challenge is getting that lug in a low offset wheel, like we need. Its the combination that matters

Just got off the phone with ADR. 17's only come in +40mm offset. Thats the problem. Anytime a manfacturer says its a tuner wheel... that means +35mm or higher.

The picture you see on the one site is probably a 9.5 with 37 or 42 offset for the back end of the mk4, 300ZX, etc.

If your going for a show/no go car, then spacers/adaptors are fine.... but if you plan on doing anything reszembling spirited driving... stay away from them.... My friend had an old 240Z with them, and was trying to drift one night and ended up loosing two wheels in the process..

thats funny because one of the instructors at the local autox club has a 240z with a Rover V8 and wheel adapters and runs on slicks and he consitently runs fastest times of the day. Maybe your friend had crappy adapters or didn't have them torqued on right. Adapters, if made well, should be just as safe as bolting a wheel directly to the hub.

Yes and no...

Spacers can be as strong as not running them at all, but it all depends on the actual thickness of them, as well as just how strong the lug bolts are, and even how much is threaded into the nut! As a general rule of thumb, you want 1½ times the thickness of the bolt threaded into the nut~ ie., if it were a 10mm bolt, you'd want 15mm of it threaded into the lug nut.
I'd say that it's just better to stick with a rim that is designed for our vehicles to be safe, especially if it's being used on the track! Why take the risk, as well as the added problems of tire balancing and added unsprung rotational mass!

All very good points guys....I was just trying to find some cool rims for us for a cheap price. I guess that isn't an easy fit for our hubs. But if anyone finds something let me know. I like to hear about them (wheels).

86: the people who have been around for abit already went through what you are doing, I am one of them

Panasport and Compomotive are the only affordable decent wheels out there good for street use.

Braid would be the next step up, and they are really nice looking. Quality is yet to be determined...since no one is currently running them on a mk2. They will be soon though.

Running a spacer on a perfectly smooth course is fine. They can endure a lot of stress, but from what I gathered talking with my friends at Eibach the shock of hitting potholes, RR tracks in EXTREME situations can compromise a spacer setup. Many times the lenghtened studs are crap. I will be running spacers on my daily driver soon, with stock heavy wheels...so we shall see how they hold up. The lenghtened studs I am getting are nearly indestructable I assume they will be just fine, since I have yet to hit a bad pothole...ad I really do not see my self ever catching one due to my paranoia.

Hey Malloy, come on over to Potholifornia and I'll show ya some really cool ones!!!
And Malloy's right on the old timers searching for rims, I too did the same thing a few months ago! Decided to go with the Compomotives for price and looks. I even tried my friend who works in a wheel shop and he said there's not many rims with a 0~+3mm offset in 16 or 17" sizes.
Now, don't let this discourage you in finding rims! The more folks searching, the more we'll be able to find that'll work for the Supra! I hope ya find a new brand that will, and if ya do, make sure you let us know what it is!

The thing to do when you do "find" wheels is to take the time to call them and ask if they have the following:

bolt pattern: 4-114.3mm (4-4.5")
offset: 0-10mm

If you do this you will eliminate 2 things: 1) The false hope of finding a wheel; 2) Us ragging/flaming you for bringing us false hopes.

And when I say "you" I do not mean anyone in particular. I mean YOU - any member of CS forums reading this. :wink:

But as Hawaiian said.. Don't get discouraged.. keep looking. The more people looking, the better our chances. I.e. The Braid wheels.

If going with wheel spacers, at least try to find a brand that makes use of the correct center bore on both sides of the spacer. The wheel would be much better supported if the inside edge of the spacer fits the 60.1mm hub center bore exactly, and also if the outer part of the spacer has a 60.1mm centering bore for the wheels to rest up against. You would need studs almost 1" longer than stock to account for the approx 30mm spacing, maybe hard to find that size studs with correct shoulder sizing.
H&R make very good spacers, maybe check them out.

Hey Mike,

Eibach should be pretty good too. Its really hard to find decent spacers at good prices. HR has those called Trax (?) they bolt to your hub, then your wheel bolts to the spacer which has 4 new studs coming out. Also this could be the way to adapt 5 bolt wheels. I'm not inclined to try it, but it prob would work really well for most folks. Yes, I've known many folks using spacers to race, really a individual decision.

Those decals getting pretty good attention. Will check my inventory of decals for maybe ordering more.
