A while ago I remember seeing a picture project of a custom air intake for a mkII supra. The intake pipe went across the block, down the left and curved to expose the intake filter directly with oncoming wind. It was placed behind the lower bumper rectangular opening, below the headlight.

MY QUESTION:is this complete insanity, or would it actually increase hp, despite the long curvy intake tube. Has anyone done such a thing? hahah

Do you mean the RabidChimp Intake? Look to the right (RabidChimp) and see if that's what you're referring to.

It definitely helps the motor breathe.

This is an age old question, please use Search ...see: forced air induction/ram air/cold air intake, Chimpy etc.

I don't know how much dust or moisture gets directly sucked into the system, but there is benefit, of course limited due to the restriction of the AFM.
