does anyone know what I would have to ask for when buying a new belt? the previous owner got a belt that is too long, impossible to tension alternator enough. I will check back tomorrow morning with the dimensions of my existing belt. I believe this is caused by me having used the wrong type of alternator, I'm assuming my belt will have to be a little shorter than normal! thanks!

If you go into any autoparts they should be able to look up the model and sell you the right belts.

Put the alternator in the center of it adjustment. Take a string or one of those flexible measure tape and loop it around the pulleys to find the belt length. The stock belt is supposed to be 36-37 inches and 7 rib. If the car is stock one of the catalog ones should be fine.
